New shop, restaurant and gallery facility showcasing organic produce grown on the farm and from many different organic Scottish producers. The timber clad building in the Borders countryside boasts an EPC rating better than A and a negative carbon footprint of 22kg/co2/m²/yr. This was achieved with the help of Allan Cumming Associates, Low Carbon Energy Assessors, who used computer modelling to analyse how the building will perform throughout the year. The building form and fabric were carefully considered and this resulted in a highly efficient and naturally ventilated building. Renewable technologies implemented include a ground source heat pump, solar thermal panels and a 25kw wind turbine.
